Our 2019 recipients, Sana Pashankar and Sarah Caso each received a $300 scholarship.
Sana Pashankar, a senior at Amity High School, has been involved in various clubs throughout her high school career including being the President of Girl Up, which is a UN initiative promoting the health, education and empowerment of girls in developing countries. Sana was an active swimmer and diver swimming for both the Amity High School Swim Team and the Woodbridge Aquatic Club. Sana has volunteered at many organizations in the political, educational and medical fields and while traveling in India, volunteered for a nonprofit dedicated to empowering women and children in the community. Sana will be attending Duke University in the fall.
Sarah Caso, a senior at Daniel Hand High School, participated in many school clubs including Girls Advancing in STEM. She represented her school on the Lacrosse, Cross County and Track teams. Sarah’s community service experience was mainly filled throughout her time as a Girl Scout, volunteering for many activities to help other girls. She was also active with Women and Family Life Center in their Girls Coach Girls Run program. Sarah will be attending University of California, Berkeley in the fall.
