Our 2018 recipients, Grace Whitman and Sinead Donnelly each received a $250 scholarship.
Grace Whitman, a senior at Amity High School, has been involved in various clubs throughout her high school career including those to help new and transfer student acclimate to Amity. Grace held positions on two swim teams and two softball teams all four years, competing at Varsity level and maintaining Team Captain. She has volunteered at many organizations working with children including: Holy Infant Church, Orange Little League, Homework Help Center and Fun Sports America. Grace will be attending Providence College in the fall.
Sinead Donnelly, a senior at Sacred Heart Academy, participated in many school activities including orchestra, Key Club and Peer Connection. She played soccer both for school and her town, rowed for Yale Community Rowing and was on the indoor and outdoor track teams. Sinead’s community service experience revolved around children including: West Haven Child Development Center, soccer coach for New Haven Youth Soccer and counselor for St. Aeden’s Church Vacation Bible School. She was also involved in the Irish Cultural and Sports Association of Southern Connecticut. Sinead will be attending the University of Vermont in the fall.
